The world has been undergoing a remarkable transition and transformation under the weight of technological revolution and more recently  different variant of Artificial Intelligence..

Will  it do more good than harm? Will machine the creation of human intelligence be able to think feel and act like super human and outsmart  humans.

They are no longer hypothetical questions but crucial issues  confronting the world today. More particularly in the Post -truth world dominated and frustrated  by the militarised,dehumanized  and diseased mind of most of the fascist rulers all over the world.

Come to think of it, issues like, palestanians cry for recovery of their home land and Ukarine's helplessness in the face of Russian arrogance and folly, disturbs our mind and dim our hopes for the evolution of decent, well balanced international political and economic order.

More importantly the crass silence of the global south in not voicing the reasoned response and support for the cause of palestaneians is puzzling and  frustrating.

The Middle East is sitting on volcanoes of prolonged war. The US which aids and abets Israel war machine to kill the innocent civilians does not have any moral right to police. It's blindfolded and bemused by the presence of a monster called Trump, and his anti immigrant labour policy and his crude plea for heightened protectionist tendancies which has made globalization as a mockery. At a time when developing south and emerging markets are willing to allow themselves to be raped given their urge to earn export, the world is getting deglobalized selectively to protect the industrial powers of the affluent bloc.

The general allegation that Japan in the distant past and china of more recent vintage have been consistently destroying the international trading world with its single minded drive towards Mercantilist conquest is now applicable to the U S,emerging as a rogue state. The US and many others in the global economy creak beneath hopeless burden of debts and deficits, vaulting inflation, escalated food inflation and all nations experience great supply shocks.

America's persistent deficits to leach away saving,drive up consumption and suck in imports. It took a long time to reduce interest rate as inflation was stubbornly refusing to fall  and weakening dollar did not give much space through international Fischer effect.

The real cold war is between the U S and china and india is caught between devil and deep sea..

The leadership is keen to annex states under BJP rule by hook or crook  and not worry much about belligerence of china and the series of insults and humiliation stemming from it.

There are signs that china is willing to listen to reason and use diplomacy to defuse tension and moderate US romance with india.It remains to be seen how far and hiw long china will play this hide and seek game.

who am I- part 2

Being an ordinary human all of us desire a lot and dream a lot to attain all the material requisites of well being to use Alfred Marshall words.Excepting the corrupt politicians,  avaracious bankers, corporate frauds, unscrupulous bureaucrats, unethical teachers and business men and many other tribes of this kind who want to be rich by hook or crook, the majority of the people are basically good and honest and want to lead a decent life amidst all chaos and complexity of life.invariably many belonging to this set have problems to confront day in and day out.

The tragedy of life is that there's a hidden or many times open fight or subtle confrontation between these two classes, the most corrupt and least good on the one hand and the rest of population living in truth and honesty, but struggling in their minimum materialistic pursuit, or academic goals or climbing their administrative ladders..in this broad context only the question who am I has a reevance .The life of a nation as also the life of an individual revolves around the opposing forces  operating between the good and the bad..

Having been a student of Economics for more than five  decades  I feel that many a time government and the criminalized segment of population in different walks of life  become problems as the  former develops sectional bias and the latter get soaked  in sensual and materialistic Ife with a royal culture of thousands cars, driven by unbridled greed, vaulting ambition  to capture power, enjoy higher position, not by ethical means .This is the classic case of Gresham's Law, a la the Bad drives Good from circulation.

Politics becomes a business,  a trading activity, a lucrative family concern and  money making madness  becomes a norm there.Business becomes a close ally of power seeking and corrupt politicians and this Nexus, the collusive oligopoly between them is on the rise and that explains the corporate frauds  not paying bank loans , evading taxes  and the government writing off huge amount of loans the wilful defaulters...This crony capitalism has done more havoc ...The ego centric journey of the microscopic minority always uttering I and My as vedic words and also  living in a world of illusions and delusion sans ethics and accountability, is the Bane of the society..

The economic governance of the country thus falls on the shoulder of the ordinary individuals and middle class and they swallow all the regressive and oppressive taxes..

The question who am I, is deliberated in a different sense and one has to ask oneself where he belongs to.If the affluent do not and will not contribute more in the form of taxes and the ordinary poor have  to shell out via the indirect tax of GST and the rise in the collection is seen as a positive sign of economy growing and the federal government plays politics in managing the devolution of that amount between the states and also distribution of the share in the most vindictive way,  it is time we paid more attention to the ethical and moral side of the so called regulators  not selectively with all dirty and filthy politics built into it.

The criminalized segment of the community will never rest content with a mountain of wealth that they have at a point of time  but  always on the  wheels to augment it , protect it by all possible means including the switch over to a political asylum where the law will hardly touch them.

This does not auger well for democracy.Those insane persons shedding crocodile years on the excesses of emergency as the dark spots must do introspection in themselves and grasp into the molecules of their brain to what extent the constitution and democracy have been molested and raped beyond repair and recognition.Let everyone ask who am I?

who am I ? ..part 1

Who am I? I am not sure whether it has been posted earlier.Today I stumbled upon these skeleton notes written when I was in De!hi long ago.Who am I is the significant spiritual question raise Ramana Maharshi and most of us are unable to delink our true intrinsic nature from our body and for many I and My dominate and ego centric journey' and an all encompassing pursuit of criminaised politicians have been causing havoc and his bcom problem rather than being a solution.

Who am I is also the  title of Jackie John movie.I saw the movie long ago and I can't recall anything.with ageing process I can't remember many things and his loss of memory is good and brain is decluttered...but some Economics will remain and given the compulsive environment I will  savour it at the very fundamentals.

I do have a sensitive and honest side and also a sensual and romantic side and also simultaneously yearning towards the meaning and purpose of this insipid life our barren existence.Gazing at the innumerable stars dancing in he sky, and also bountiful nature parading its beauty on earth, including the majestic mountains and pervading forests and the restless oceans and seas I have developed a child's curiosity and  unbridled enthusiasm to watch and hear from them.

R A Mundell a noble Lauret told at his young age : A date other a girl, a swim in the sea , a conversation with a genius and  a look at the sunset are all goods.They all provide satisfaction. Peace and blissful experience.Do we have time to internalize what Mundell ruminated? Do  we have time to enjoy all the simplest pleasures of life independent of digital technology, data mining and machine learning?Will artificial intelligence be a boon or Bane  for a healthy lifestyle and peaceful mind-set?

Towards understanding stock Market

Understanding the movement of prices in financial markets especially stock market and foreign exchange market is really a complex phenomenon.The asset prices are generally dependent on not only the present conditions but also  future developments.This means expected price in future influences today price..

From Burton Malkiel I have learnt that  fundamentally there are two approaches towards valuation in stock market.First one is understanding the true intrinsic value of the stock.ie there is something called anchor which holds the value around a particular level.This comes under the firm foundation theory.

If only one could guess and estimate te true intrinsic value ,any large deviations from it, upward or downward will cause selling and buying and  continued flow of information will push the value  towards its true value.This simply means all the available information today about its stock valuation and the future prospects will together define the value of a stock at a given time.

This is not to suggest that fundamentals dictate the stock market price. John Maynard Keynes the greatest economist of 20 the century , a financial wizard observed that invariably professional traders and investors largely go by intuition. Perception and crowd behaviour..iethey don't bother much about firm foundation theory and stock market resembles like gamblers den.

It is called as castle in the air theory.

As some one said, life is all about finding

The essential ingredients of happiness and peace

At the end of the day

Yes there is something to do,

All through my life I have had something

To propel me to action, reading and writing

Like roulette wheel my fortunes have fluctuated.

With all scars in heart and wrinkles in mind

And many academic injuries despite more academic

honours and recognition on the stage

The debating platform,

I have waded through the slippery marital waters

And office politics filled academic corridors

How did I survive?

I didn't make any plans

No target, no goals and virtually nil ambitions

With God given command over language

And nonstop romance with fundamentals of

Macro and international finance  a la 

Tasting the victory of academic brilliance

And also facing all adversity,

I had the strength of character to survive

I was never worried about th fear of failure as 

I had been the admirer of my works which are unique

.In their own  way

When stupid heads at micro and macro level

Couldn't grasp the summer side of my academic

Contributions, I am sorry it's their fault and poverty

 of their knowledge

As  Mith Albom told,

All endings are also beginnings

We just don't know it at that time 

To Modi and company and anybody doing harm

Redefined the meaning of terrorism and the cause of nationalism, Tamil nationalism was lost on the way

Worshipping Buddha but fomenting hatred the majority

Dominated and frustrated the freedom struggle

It was great that many were wading through

Real impossibilities and recurrent resistances

Couldn't alter the situation but only worsened it 

Oh Lord ,is there any one in the cosmos having the 

Indomitable courage and conviction, and an uncompromising attitude to restore the dignity on 

Tamil population there and also other minorities

Silently suffering all over the world

Hello Lord ! Are you listening?

All these unfortunate disadvantaged people  tossed 

and turned by hatred and vengeance 

Did practice patience and perseverance and endured

All the insults, injustice and injuries of time....

But the dominant leader and faithful warriors couldn't

take things to their logical destination

It was international politics and lack of diplomatic path

Which killed all the designs, all the passion which were

Fashioned out in minutest details to 

Attain the highest ideals , their home land 

Apparently impossible in reality given the changed

Geo political setting and not even visible in the 

Near or distant future.

Like a charming girl degenerating into sick and ailing lady

All the youthful dreams for home land faded and vanished

into thin air  once and for all.

That dreamland is now barren sick with dead bodies

And souls ,hovering over there

Like abandoned land like any other war torn zone 

When the globalised and globalising world cannot take 

Cognizance of the marginalized and fully deprived 

What is the use of talking interconnectedness,

Computer driven networked information flow and nonsense

Where is the conscience of global community and institutions

This was written long ago when the freedom struggle failed in the Tamil segments of Sri Lanka 

That country is experiencing the worst economic and political crisis proving the adage one who sows will reap..
