The callous attitude and apathy of middle class will backfire one day

One’s speeches and writings must deal with  the life  and reality, -the underlying pain and agony of the vast sea of humanity ,steeped in poverty  and economic impoverishment .True, it is difficult to solve all the problems confronting them and find answers to too many nagging questions .but we must strive for finding solutions .As Arundhathi Roy told once ,if our writings do not disturb ,there is no meaning in that writing .
Our rhetoric on higher growth and inclusive development, remains as a slogan –pure empty slogan and the corporate driven economy hardly bothers about the real priorities of the society .There is money and technology to cover the cricket ground in case it rains ,but no such facility to protect the grains procured by the government and kept in open space; they are destined to have a premature death ,not even fit for the consumption of cattle.
Economic and social life in any society cannot be divorced from political conditions .Behind the glitters of progress and development ,higher degree of urbanization following industrialization which is neatly summed up in the glass curtain economy ,benefitting  a few, there is a ruthless process of dehumanization and pauperization of the poor and lower middle class; religion and caste have emerged as the divisive force to polarize the society further and deepen the social and economic inequalities .
It is futile to expect the econometricians and hi tech research engine to capture this gulf in Indian society  and no serious solution is in sight to uplift the society by providing basic necessities of life .Where is  the express path way to get water for drinking and irrigation ? Instead of harvesting rain from above ,we have sucked more from the ground ,far deep, so much so that we are in a mess.
The revolutionary idealism and concern for the fellow human have evaporated into thin air.The youth have lost their roots with their mother tongue, and their culture ,inclusive of the vast literature , which is really a treasure house of wisdom.  There is a general wavering attitude, defeatist sentiments, a sense of cynicism and betrayal, growing confusion and contradiction and in essence ,a gradual erosion among the middle and upper middle class. This gross indifference to the suffering of the majority ,will backfire one day and the consequences will be more devastating then
