A few days are still
left to Contemplate: Henceforward
The
countdown has begun for the official retirement on 31st May 2013.
The modest dream or desire , or even a minimal expectation is that my knees and
the back, eyes and arms will be reasonably strong enough, vibrant enough to sit
and study, write and ruminate upon the life in general and Economics discipline
in particular . The ball is in the court of the creator. I will play the game depending
upon the ground and my strength.
Like
Cleopatra, Economics has made me academically hungry even while it has
satisfied me abundantly. My moral universe, relatively strong and secure was
positioned by students and books. The only difference after 31st may
would be that my home may turn out to be the workplace, as it had been all
along, even while I was officially employed in my second home.
A
few MBA guys who met last night was only
a sample of my vastly expanding population of my students who always kept me in
good stead, in a functional way. I will not miss them in my virtual world. But
regular teaching, I will miss.
Age
will not wither my appetite for reading and writing or to take genuine interest in the welfare of
fellow human. At the end of the day, what matters is your good deeds and moral
strength and not the degree of intellectual prostitution, that one can indulge
in for pelf and position, power and title. I thank the almighty for having
saved me from the dirt and filth of the devilish world.
Student
friends! Come on! Life is short. We can make it sweet and enjoyable.
Let’s all enjoy all the simpler pleasures of
life under the sun, without compromising on core values of life. We will
continue to believe in the goodness of the universe.

Sir,
I always remember sitting in your classes listening to your voice, values and ideas which were powered by the energy pulsating from within you. This with the blue sea in the background was the ultimate high and I felt blessed to be there.
Thank you for your yeoman service to the field of Economics, enriching thousands of students lives and benefiting society at large. I hope you have a happy retired life and continue to contribute to this earth's intellectual capital.
Best Wishes,
