A time will come , the tide will change

I know you are an odd element in that set,

Alone and unhappy in your thoughts,

But kindly don’t abandon your hope

There is no need to get sucked

Into a deeper and darker hole.

There’ s still abundant light outside,

And more intellectual fire inside

Fire always burning very brightly,

Intimidating the shallow creatures,

Wallowing in evil deeds.

It’s true, we rediscover our strength

And reinvent our talents

To sail through a brighter terrain

With ease, interest and comfort.

The agonizing road block in our

Uphill academic journey,

Is the worst encounter, we have ever had .

Also , it’s frustrating and frightening

And also sapping our strength

But we need to move on

Like brave soldiers in a futile war campaign

With all our critical ability and self belief

To win the war.

A time will come , the tide will change

Already we are in a lime light

In our home theatre, our classrooms.

By switching off the light, and turning away,

He has only made himself small, an object of ridicule.

See how he puts up a brave front

With all his baggages of the past

Filled with criminality and venality.

Everyone gains by winning the game I have gained enormously by losing it

My positive and aggressive academic posture,

As revealed by Teaching, writing and articulating,

In my own inimitable style,

Has invited only ridicule at the coffee club

Do you know why?

You have never tasted the flavor and glory of Academics

In your entire academic life.

So, you feel very small and dwarfed.

In our presence ,

Elevated to an exalted position,

But only educated beyond your intelligence,

There has been always a savage violence

And sadistic streak in your molecules of brain

To molest academic integrity and efficiency.

I want to play a delightful academic game

But you always invoke and invent new rules,

To transform this game into a pure political sport.

Small wonder then you make me out,

Rather effortlessly when I excel in batting.

Everyone gains by winning the game

I have gained enormously by losing it

At your hand. Yes. Gentleman !

The fruitful fallout of your clownish game

Is birth of my poetry.

You can neither be happy

Nor feel well all the time,

Just because you are born rich

Or a fortune has smiled on you

The exalted position that you occupy here

Was not meant for doing mischief

And blunt the academic brilliance of

Your co-workers,

Who are good workers too.

By showering booms to those

Who had displayed a remarkable immediate loyalty

And stunning the career graph of

Those who all along practiced only work ethics

You’re indeed ushering in a paradigm shift here

“Don’t work, Praise my glory.

Write books for me, though shall not suffer

I will guarantee your career lift.”

Fifteen Minutes Fame, Many a time is enough

“A wave of sadness, I can’t speak of

Swells in my heart.

No solution is in immediate sight

Except to fight alone in my heart,”

You have lamented Sakthi !

I can understand your agony

Reasoned anger and rational outburst

Let’s remain cool and pool our strength

To tide over this crisis.

Will diamond studded jewel

Lose its luster and charm,

And ever turn into ordinary stone?

Should we measure our success

By stupid judgment of that Sadistic boss?

A thoroughly inadequate and a perfectly

Academically, dishonest gentleman to the core,

Whose interior is made of stone.

In terms of talent, and performance

Reading, writing and debating,

And articulating on the stage with societal concerns

Only a very few can excel us here.

So let us rejoice over our accomplishments,

Our fifteen minutes fame achieved many a time

In the past,

And meditate on work

Without experiencing any work pressure. (From My Dateless Dairy)

No great virtues, not much great vices

I am thoroughly a common place person

Having a sturdy heart, but no feeble mind,

No great virtues, not much great vices,

By parental genes and brought up,

Always an amicable person with all

Plausible accommodative attitude and socialization,

Even before the globalization became a buzz word.

But of late, molested and crushed by devilish forces,

The politicized animals, ever hyper active,

That generous and sweet tempered nature

Has taken a back seat, giving way to an aggressive posture.

When a dull and drab personality not at all having any

Admirable quality or virtue neither in mind nor in heart

Worthy of an exalted position occupied

Does manufacture mischief

And survives as the chief of mischief

How can we love the society here

More intently and inclusively?

There are something which a chief

“Never should, could, or would do “

But he did, with all savage violence in word and deed

And lasted the full term.

Nothing could shake his pedestal

Sorry even make his hair flutter,

Courtesy: his own expression.

Life of a Dog with ripe Coconut in his Mouth: Ancient poetry revisited

While the organisation goes to dogs

The chairman thrives and survives at personal level

The superiors at the helm of affairs at the micro level

Also never bother to guide and goad

The co-workers to fruitful deeds,

For reasons known to themselves

These dead woods need to be removed

As it becomes a ‘dead weight loss’

To the society at large, benifiting none.

Shakti, do you recall an

Ancient tamil poem we learnt at school:

A dog posessing a ripe coconut,

Not knowing the methodology of

Break opening it to eat ,

Just rolls over it, and kicks it

Let me go beyond the interpretation of the poetry .

The inability of the dog to enjoy,

Doesn’t harm anyone.

Save the resource malallocation

But the ability of the chairman

To roll in luxury and appropriate resources

For personal glory and ‘survival’ by

Depleting resources

Paralyzing the administration

Encouraging divisive politics

Looting the exchequre

And terrorize the very environiment

Fanning the spark of hate ,

With a typical litigant’s spirit

Just vitiates the atmosphere

While the silent majority suffer ,

A few devoid of ethics and morality

Benefit , exploiting the chaos.

Dogs are more faithful .

They do not cause more mishchief

We can only envy the dogs.
