A general introduction /or confession

Recently I submitted a paper for Thirukkural conference. It was jointly written with S Kanchana my first daughter who did her post graduation and Mphil in English Literature. A few select pages will be used  in the fresh write up in the blog.
When there is an urgent task of writing a lot of things in my own subject and many  topics are crying for attention I am allocating time for translation. If I do not attempt to ruminate now I can never do that. Before i start writing on select themes related to life and love mostly drawn from the ancient classics and also my countless diaries. After my return from Pune Conference I am fully charged academically and  God  willing I will be meditating not on GOD but on my love  International finance and Thirukkural at least for the next few months

First i will write very briefly about that text and then dwell upon God. I AM NOT STRICTLY   a religious   or spiritual person though I am realizing that I should turn my attention in that direction. Sometimes I think that the current infatuation with love and life will make me a good or a better human  and get aligned with cosmic forces.

I have begun my work on love and life

Today  I stumbled upon the diary written in 2002.I had scribbled a few  pages translating the first  ten kurals coming under  IN PRAISE OF THE ALMIGHTY.Before I begin my articulation on love and life let me pay my prayers to the SUPREME TO GIVE ME THE STRENGTH TO TRANSLATE as many kurals as possible .With all my feverish enthusiasm  to read more tamil in the remaining period of my life I am ripe and ready to do what I must do. A girl is a wonderful phenomenon and I want to capture the Infinite variety and the smells and sounds of love life as revealed by KURAL.

Trailor on kural

Thirukkural contains everything which is needed for life. Many a time Valluvar is very sober and gentle in his discourse on life. And yet sometimes he displays elements of militancy especially when he deals with the issue of hunger and mass deprivation. He confronts the Creator and thunders:If one is destined to live by begging let the Creator who authored this world also go around abegging and suffer.
While commenting on the virtue of not laying one,s handson anotherman’s wife and indulge in extramarital relations he is very deadly in his attack. An affair of that nature is like an embracing the dead body in the dark room.
WE will dwell upon later how he very softspoken often  is. He wants us to practise not only work ethics but also remain patient under any provocative missle attack of unkind words and all kinds of adverse criticism. Those who remain calm and unpetrubed  will find a berth amongst Devas.

We shall always remember that life is like rose plant and its fragrance must be felt by everyone by nurturing it with the nutrient of love.

Let us practise work ethics to fill the gaps in life

Life is strange and a perplexing phenomenon. Every event that takes place at each moment in life is significant and it has a feedback effect on later events. If only we could understand the explanatory power of each event and understand the solution for the same there is no problem. Life is not a riddle to be resolved but a mystery to be lived. To many it becomes a multipronged thorn or missile but they also successfully negotiate it without being bombarded by it

So long as work ethic is practised life has some inner meaning. It is only when the tendency to work or the propensity to labour is relegated to the background or withdrawn by cruel fate life ceases to exist even while we are living. What matters most is honest/hard work and we must practise it without expecting any reward or award invariably those who do more work and render professional ethics get deprived of even the simplest pleasures of life and they are trampled upon by those who up herb work. It is quite unfortunate that many young people in our country do not have opportunity to translate all their full potentials. This does not augur well for the young especially when the demographic profile of the country is tilted in favour of the young population

I will labour hard

For reasons beyond my control  I could not periodically post  in the blog. The major problem is typing. My student friends were ready to extend a.  helping hand Iam very much grateful to one Mahendra Babu who is now Assistant Prof in the North for having played an instrumental role..Those days will never return.
My youngest daughter could help but she is busy in managing the kid.Slowly I am learning to type with one finger. My tpist friend will rescue me in the coming months. As I had written in my facebook  I will write more about life and love  and draw resources from Thirukkural and my dateless diaries. For sometime I will soft  peddle my professional writing on international finance.

A few days are still left to Contemplate: Henceforward

A few days are still left to Contemplate: Henceforward

The countdown has begun for the official retirement on 31st May 2013. The modest dream or desire , or even a minimal expectation is that my knees and the back, eyes and arms will be reasonably strong enough, vibrant enough to sit and study, write and ruminate upon the life in general and Economics discipline in particular . The ball is in the court of the creator. I will play the game depending upon the ground and my strength.

Like Cleopatra, Economics has made me academically hungry even while it has satisfied me abundantly. My moral universe, relatively strong and secure was positioned by students and books. The only difference after 31st may would be that my home may turn out to be the workplace, as it had been all along, even while I was officially employed in my second home.

A few MBA guys who met last night was  only a sample of my vastly expanding population of my students who always kept me in good stead, in a functional way. I will not miss them in my virtual world. But regular teaching, I will miss.

Age will not wither my appetite for   reading and writing  or to take genuine interest in the welfare of fellow human. At the end of the day, what matters is your good deeds and moral strength and not the degree of intellectual prostitution, that one can indulge in for pelf and position, power and title. I thank the almighty for having saved me from the dirt and filth of the devilish world.

Student friends! Come on! Life is short. We can make it sweet and enjoyable.
Let’s all enjoy all the simpler pleasures of life under the sun, without compromising on core values of life. We will continue to believe in the goodness of the universe.

Presence and fragrance of grand children will make life easy going

You have seen your parents exit from earth,
And get assimilated into vast universe,
To oversee the loved ones, the poor and the disadvantaged.
You are now seeing your children, settled in life,
Radiating happiness, rendering work ethics
Upholding family values and virtues.
The only setback is the ailing loving wife,
She too will soon come back to good health
There are signs of remarkable recovery-
Far better than the U.S economy and
Debt stricken PIGS countries in Europe
Time will heal, the tide will change,
The cycle will rotate for the better,
Better times will blossom
Be happy man, that is the sure way of being wise
What else you need, old man, when you feel young at heart
The two grand children are full of fun, enthusiasm, and adventure,
They talk about death and life and conduct
Mock Court kind of Drama in real life,
Discussing and debating the perils of drought,
Damage to environment, on their own
And not tutored by parents.
Enjoy their curiosity, their caring for company
Their dreams to go out and breathe fresh air
And fly with wings and laughter.
Spend more time with them,
Understand their mood and help develop their positive attitude.
In their presence and fragrance, your BP will go downhill,
Madam will rediscover her form and peace
Shakthi will get rejuvenated by the
Entire cosmic energy captured at HOME.
