Let us internalize the power of our mothers freed from stress

After glorifying labour on May 1, the world celebrates Mother’s Day during mid-May. It is my conviction that we should celebrate labour and mother every moment of our life for they are the backbone of the very process of life. There is no substitute for mother’s milk or mother’s love. I enjoyed both in abundance in my life. I know there are many in this world deprived of this amrita even at the young age. Should we not compensate them by our love and extending the hand of friendship?

I have never seen my mother quarreling with my father or vice versa. It does not mean they did not have any differences in life. Not much formally educated they passed the ultimate test in relationship: Agree to disagree but to hold hands.
They counted their blessings without grumbling about the absence of comforts. They tightened their belt and led a sacrificial life to see their children settled in life. They took control of their lives without yielding to stress. This is the most important component of power which many of us lack.
Life is a series of endless problems. It is full of calamitous and pleasant events. It is not the events that are important but how we handle them and perceive them.

While celebrating the   Mother’s Day we shall remember the old prayer:
God, Grant me the serenity to accept
The things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.
