Meditations on Valluvar’s Kural – Part one

Tamil is one of the ancient languages of the world. Despite its rich cultural heritage and strong civilizational roots, a classical language status as showered upon it only in the recent times. While I was at school, I was lucky, privileged and more informed to read more Tamil writings, including many novels. it is my misfortune that entry into the college and embracing of English medium to study economics, completely turned my life ups and down and I am now craving for reading more stuff in my own mother tongue .I don’t know how far the supreme will give me the chance to relish the infinite variety of Tamil literature, which cannot wither.

More than the native Tamils, overseas Tamils, especially those who have been rooted out in their own home land in Srilanka and foreigners having a taste and thirst towards Tamil have really contributed towards its richness, mildness and stubbornness .the dirty, divisive and destructive politics of the Tamil speaking region in India has done enormous amount of damage in not making Tamil as an operational language. it s really distressing that many Tamils are going away from the roots and getting swayed by the language of English which has become a passport for getting a job.
