Thirukural attempts to mirror life to the fullest dealing with all that essentially constitutes life. The essence of life is to love and live in a dignified way given one’s own cultural environment and social milieu. Although human biology is an important key in dictating human behavior, it is ultimately conditioned by the culture and custom and of course the attitude of parents. Be that as it may, it is this love that rules the world with all its multidimensional manifestations, spreading with wings and radiating happiness and bliss. But there is also the other side to this love game. There is more pain and sorrow, anxiety and depression, sleeplessness and dreams and the lamentations over separations by the beloved. It is to the credit of the sage poet that he has neatly weaved all the threads surrounding love life.
Thanks to our body given by the Almighty to enjoy successive phases of life between birth and death. Gifted we are to feel, taste and touch, to see, talk and listen, gather and share knowledge, work and relax, indulge in love, enjoy and suffer from love, all leading to a wonderful creation of a society. Thirukural unravels love and presents all that undergoes between the body and the mind.  The chemical reactions induced from hormonal secretions in both men and women at the appropriate time in life does trigger an experience from which no one can escape unless he happens to be spiritually destined by the supreme.  The precious life of the adolescence period and all the complexities arising out of emotional and sexual underpinnings need to be studied in a more subtle and detailed way, without getting trapped into any kind of vulgarity.
